Treatment Plant Operator Trainee

Location: North Brevard, FL
Pay Rate: $16.84/hr
Hours: 7:00AM – 3:30PM

The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for daily housekeeping within the water treatment facilities, along with performing technical work in operations, and maintenance. Within the water facility, the Treatment Plant Operator Trainee will be operating process pumps, motors, blowers, and other treatment plant equipment including the following but not limited to:

  • Clean the structures and equipment along with routine landscaping and janitorial duties
  • Manage a routine of various lab tests such as sludge settling, centrifuge, and chlorine residual
  • Withdraw samples water
  • Maintain a numerical record and summaries daily of every performance within the plant
  • Ability to read different types of meters and gauges while observing the measurements and reporting issues to maintenance management
  • Monitor the types of equipment at the plant to ensure they are functioning correctly and in compliance with the state regulations
  • Manually record required data into log books
  • Testing chlorine residual, check the chlorine, pH and turbidity gauges
  • Clean equipment and structures
  • Maintain a numerical record and daily summaries of every performance within the plant
  • Keep required information within the logbook

Requirements:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 1-year experience working in a water treatment plant is required
  • Florida Class “C” Drinking Water Operator’sLicensee is required, must keep the license active during employment
  • Required to have a valid FL Driver’s License
  • This position includes shift work, working holidays or weekends as required
  • Work involves exposure to hazardous materials, odors, noise, moving machinery, and extreme weather conditions
  • Must pass a respiratory physical in order to wear a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus and be physically able to wear at all times
  • Knowledge of the techniques for operating a treatment plant
  • Must have good math skills
  • Ability to use and apply basic mechanical principles and tools
  • Able to keep manual records and on a computer
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment and meet the physical requirements
